A Kids' Lounge for a Bar Mitzvah or Wedding Reception in St. Louis

"my son who was celebrating his bar mitzvah said this was the best night ever." That's Mindy Woolf, and she also said Jason was amazing with the kids and that he was engaging, which is the part that decides whether a kids' room at a reception works or quietly becomes a problem for somebody's parents.

In St. Louis and Metro East, a Game Arena is a pop-up console lounge set up in a side room or corner of your reception venue, with Xbox, PS5 and Switch stations on big screens for up to 20 players. Starter is $500 and Pro is $750, each for two hours run by an Event Manager with hotspot internet included, so nobody at the reception is supervising.

The hour every reception with kids at it has

Somewhere around the second round of speeches, the twelve-year-olds are finished being interested. They have eaten, they have danced to the one song they know, and now they are circling the dessert table in a group while their parents try to hold a conversation.

Giving them their own room with something worth doing changes that hour for everyone in the building, including the adults who were about to spend it managing the situation.

What it looks like in a venue

Stations set along one wall of a side room or a quiet corner of the main hall, each with its own TV and table, and LED tower lighting on the Pro build. Up to 20 kids play at once, and the Event Manager keeps everyone rotating so nobody is stuck waiting.

On the look. This can be built to read as a lounge rather than a birthday party, and if that matters to you, say so when you book. Our table covers are black and carry our logo. You are welcome to put your own over the tables at no extra cost, and if you want covers branded to your event, we will quote that for you. Most venues care about this and so do most parents.

On the host. This is the piece people underestimate. At a birthday party there are parents around. At a reception, the parents are at their table in good clothes, and a room full of unsupervised kids is not a plan. Jason runs it so the room stays handled and nobody has to keep walking over to check.

It works for more than a mitzvah

The same build goes into weddings as a kids' room, quinceañeras, sweet 16s, graduation parties and anniversary receptions. Anywhere there are two age groups in one building and only one of them is interested in the speeches.

For a wedding specifically, it solves the question every couple with young cousins eventually asks, which is what the kids do between the ceremony and the dancing.

The practical questions

Space. A folding table's footprint per station plus room to sit. A side room, a foyer, a covered patio or a quiet corner of the main hall all work.

Power. Standard wall outlets. Every package comes with hotspot internet, so you never need the venue's Wi-Fi.

Venue coordination. Tell us the venue and we will talk to their coordinator directly about load-in, timing and where they want us. Most reception venues have opinions about this and it is easier when we ask them rather than you.

Timing. Setup and teardown are ours. We can be built before guests arrive and torn down after they leave, so the room is never being assembled in front of anyone.

Ages. The Game Arena has no minimum. If your group skews older, virtual reality with a host is the one teenagers gravitate toward.

Frequently asked questions

What do kids do at a bar mitzvah reception?

A Game Arena is a pop-up video game lounge set up in a side room or corner of the venue, with Xbox, Switch and PS5 stations on big screens for up to 20 players. An Event Manager runs the room, so the kids are supervised and no parent has to leave the reception. In St. Louis and Metro East, Starter is $500 and Pro is $750, each for two hours, and added hours are $100 each.

Do you set up inside the reception venue?

Yes. Everything is carried in and built in the room, with no vehicle on site and no parking requirement. We coordinate load-in and timing directly with your venue's coordinator.

Can it look like a lounge rather than a kids' party?

Yes. Tell us when you book that you want it to read as a lounge, and the Pro package adds LED tower lighting. Our table covers are black and carry our logo. You can put your own over the tables at no extra cost, or we can quote covers branded to your event.

Is someone watching the kids?

Yes. Every package is hosted by an Event Manager, which matters at a reception because parents are seated at their tables rather than nearby. The host runs the room so nobody at the reception has to supervise.

Does this work for weddings and quinceañeras too?

Yes. The same setup goes into weddings as a kids' room, quinceañeras, sweet 16s, graduation parties and anniversary receptions. Anywhere there are two age groups in one building, it does the same job.

How much space do you need?

Roughly a folding table's footprint per station plus room to sit. A side room, foyer, covered patio or quiet corner of the main hall all work. Standard wall outlets are all that is needed for power, and hotspot internet comes with every package.
